Maintenance PDF Print E-mail

Most HVAC coils last 15-20 years, and can last as long as 30 years if they are properly maintained. This maintenance can include checking the coils, casings and intake hoods for corrosion, as well as checking drains and drain pans on cooling units.

The drains and the drain-pans on the cooling units should be cleaned every three-to six months. A plugged drain line can cause the pans to overflow, causing the spread of condensate into your facilities.

The drain traps should be kept wet, and should allow water to flow out of the drain pans. Correctly sizing the drain traps should ensure that these conditions occur.
